THE LIES WE WERE TOLD – BOYS DON’T CRY

THE LIES WE WERE TOLD - BOYS DON'T CRY

Boys don’t cry
The lies we were told
And now we are as cold as the stone after the morning crow
With no question asked, we danced to the sound of the banjo
The society was the bandsman who played the banjo
The one who became cold successfully then throw a banquet in celebration of this
And the ones who rebel was stoned with basalt and are now under the barrow
What a wasted life for when they left no one was in sorrow
He was a weak man
He wasn’t even strong
So I heard them whispered at his demise
But when I tried to talk, they bawled at me
Ever wondered why many men went berserk
It is what they made us into
The ones without feelings
Bottled emotions that were meant to be shared for so long
Became depressed and live life repressed
We were made emotional anorexic
And our cry beatific
Seems this gender has been bedeviled
I was bereaved
Boys don’t cry, the bane of our existence
