I COULDN’T ASK FOR MORE

I COULDN’T ASK FOR MORE

”I know it’s a lot to ask, but I don’t know who else to ask.” She shrugs.

She can’t look up at me, so I know it took a lot of consideration for her to ask me. Why did she ever second think asking me?

”Sure, I’ll help.” I give her a side smile.

I’d do anything for her. Besides, doing this is a little more time basking in her aura. It’s a little more time having my life illuminated my her smile.

”I’ll just change.” I point at my room door behind her.

”Of course. Sure.” She nods.

I chuckle. Walking towards my room, she moves to get out of the way. She’s fast but it’s not enough. Her shoulder brushes mine. I smile inwardly at the contact. Small as it was, it was bliss.

I’m in my room, and I walk toward my closest. I open it and groan when I see the horde of clothes. I’m the most indecisive person on the planet and choosing what to wear has never been a strong suit. I spot a dress that I know shows a remarkable amount of cleavage.

”Great.” I whisper to myself, biting my lower lip after.

My jeans come off very easy today. I’ll defy all odds for her, including the dilemma of taking off skinny jeans. My shirt goes off too.

I consider the bra I have on for a second. In this dress, no bra equals more cleavage. The bra goes off.

I get into the dress and close the closet door while I straighten out the dress with my other hand. I acknowledge myself in the mirror hanging on the closed closet door. I look good, if I say so myself. I smile, my reflection returning the gesture.

I take a quick glance at the clothes I took off and threw on my bed. I scoff, making my way to the door.

”I’ll take care of it when I get back.” I have no idea I said that out loud.

”What?” She looks up at me as the door opens.

”Hm?” I look back at her with wide eyes. ”Nothing.” I smile a small smile.

She chuckled lightly.

”I really appreciate you doing this for me.” She grabs my hand.

I blush, hoping it’s not obvious.

”Sure. Anything for…”

”You’re such a good friend.” She cuts me off. ”I couldn’t ask for more.”

I could swear I heard my heart break. My lips shake a bit before breaking into a closed smile. I nod a few fast times.

”Let’s go?” She asks.

”Sure. Lead the way.” I gesture forward.

She chuckles lightly and turns on her heels toward the elevator.

”On second thought…” I say out loud. ”I-”

She turns, giving me a questioning look. I can see the pleading in her eyes.

I let go of the breath I didn’t know I’d been holding.

”I’ll just…” I point at my room door. ”…get a jacket. Seems like it might get cold.”

”Oh. Sure.” Her smile is wide. It shows relief, even.

I close the door behind me as quick as I opened it. I scoff, shaking my head. What was I thinking? I grab the jacket on my bed and put it over my shoulders with one hand as I open the door with the other.

”Now…” I stress. ”…we can go.”

”Thank you, again.” She nods at me.

”What are friends for?” I let out while pulling either side of my jacket close together over my exposed cleavage.

The short walk to the elevator makes me realise I want to put my arms through the sleeves if I’m going to be comfortable. In the elevator, I put on the jacket, doing the zipper all the way up.
