SCAR FRIDAY ( the conclusion)

SCAR FRIDAY ( the conclusion)

“We are in a deep mess”, said the class captain as he took the register along. With fear and trembling, we filed out of the class towards the Hall of Fame. The feeble girls were sobbing already and the stout-hearted guys maintained a stern look.

A gush of adrenaline ran down my spine when I saw a corp member coming towards us with a bundle of canes. I remember some naughty boys still shouting, ” Máà fọ́ , mo wà pẹ̀lú ẹ. ” as the girls were wailing already. I checked the time, 11:04am, exactly break time. The nearby teachers gave derogatory remarks about our class leaving no hope for a mild punishment.

” Fawaz and assistant, come forward! “, Mr Fara said. The entirety of the students screamed in unison. The ones peeping from their classrooms and the ones that were bold enough to come down to witness the scene. I really pitied Jenny, the assistant class captain as scalding tears trickled down her face, Fawaz was still being manly. ” 6 strokes for you both and 4 for the others “, he continued.

Fawaz set the pace and knelt down in readiness. “Pa, pa, pa….”and that was all. Hot six strokes!. He was to mark the names of the students who have taken theirs. Jenny went for hers too, but her tight gown was not being friendly as it provided a larger surface area. I almost cried for her. Neat Jenny was seen rolling on the floor after hot six.

The strong guys: Mike, Kolapo, J Flash and others went for theirs and shook it off. I went for mine but also took some ” tospes” before the real strokes based on the virtue of my post. I found myself sweating after.

Maruf was known for his effeminacy and proximity to the teacher we offended. It was his turn, he only took a stroke and he obeyed Ampere’s swimming rule. He was swimming on the bare floor, with that, he was still thoroughly beaten. It looks funny now but it was not as funny as it is back then.

In midstream, BJ, Bolarinde and some other girls became comatose. Ah ah ah!…It was not an excuse to escape Mr Fara’s strokes as he insisted they would be beaten, they all resuscitated and got their share.

Sarah, the one who led us into the dilemma was severely beaten. Even Seun, the fiery man with the baton and a well built mesomorph cried out. He sustained a strain on a bicep on his left hand.
Cries of different frequencies resonated from different angles. Even some jesters cried!.

I would not want to go in details about Rahmat’s display. It was really a sight to behold. Very hilarious!

I was to write a letter of apology after the incident, my hands were shaking involuntary as I held the pen. I could not construct a complete sentence. The effect of the cane made me totally blank.

The class captain was benevolent enough to spare Hammed. Hammed is a sissy and cannot endure the pain from just one stroke of the cane. He marked his name and Hammed quickly took to his heels.

Boyfriend, behold thy girlfriend!. Even lovebirds cried as they were both beaten.

We left the court with scars and different bloodstains on the back of men. Afterwards, we picked round the whole school for about an hour. I remember a junior who said, “You guys really dusted the cane”, I remember Fakeye’s reply, “Na person wey chop cane sabi wetin him eyes see”.

We all left for our class with beads of sweat formed on our faces after a tiresome picking. With the scars on our back, we still jested and made fun of ourselves.
The beating had a sedative effect on us all as we all fell into deep slumber.

“Grin, grin ,grin!”, the sound of the bell woke us up. It’s 1 o’clock.

“The scar on my back can’t be removed by a plastic surgery”
, Beke said with accompanied laughter. Everyone laughed too.

We left the class in coteries as some walked to the chapel for the service as others headed to the mosque for Jumat.

We sustained scars and some are ready to show their offsprings!
