A writer I seek to be
A writer I am
Others may think differently
Or deem me unfit
But a writer I am in word and in deed
The accolades may not yet be pouring in
Nor money or fame or renown
It might seem I am wandering in paths unknown
Floundering amiss in unchartered territory
I often ponder and grieve
Is it the everlasting lot of writers
To gain acclaim after they are dead
To be celebrated in past tense
And ignored in life
A great sadness indeed if at all true
One thing is a certainty for sure
The reader is king in the twin kingdoms of word and verse
For it is he who bestows awards and honor and fame
For words that have touched his heart, his being, and his soul
And then going forth with glee
He evangelizes and draws others in
O thou great esteemed reader
Grant my request
And bestow upon me thy time and presence
An opportunity to seek your audience
Giving my words reverence and credence
Its elevation my grandest desire and pleasure
For I seek this bestowal while I am yet alive
That my eyes may see and my ears hear
That these words did thrive and make a mark
That I might be blessed with the joy and knowledge
That I did make an impact for now and all seasons
