CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE, CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
by: Jeff Keller
The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind – William James
This book is about how Jeff Keller, a motivational speaker and Coach talks about how people can take charge of their lives by Thinking, Speaking and Acting in a different way. It talks about how we can counter adversities and develop talents unique to us through a step-by-step programme to change our attitude and life.
The book is divided into twelve lessons. I will summarize the first four lessons of the book.
- Your attitude is a window to the world
According to George Shaw, “Better keep yourself Clean and bright; you are the window through which you must see the world”.
In the world, he describes humans as optimists and pessimists. They all have different ways they view the world. People can view the world with a positive attitude or a negative attitude. In life, there comes a point where your window to life gets smudged by criticism, ridicule, disappointments and rejection. Many people keeps the dirt building up and do nothing about it. They become frustrated and lose their enthusiasm. The best way according to the author is to clean your window to get a better outlook on life and improve.
2. You’re a human magnet
Napoleon Hill said “What the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve”
The idea that we become what we think about has been expressed as the Law of Dominant Thought. According to the author, that is the main thing we think about a lot, there is a power that propels us towards that direction. According to Jeff, people should take time to consider the dominant thoughts in the main areas of your life and seeing whether they are helping you or holding you back. It is true that we don’t get results before action but thoughts precedes action. And that when you have a positive belief system, you start to make plans to attain your goals.
3. Picture your way to success
Alex Morrison “You must first clearly see a thing in your mind before you can do it”
According to Jeff, we picture in our minds everything, The kind of life we want, success, wealth and the perfect relationship we deserve. As imagination is very important, the pictures stay in our mind and have a tremendous influence over our actions as humans. “Vision is the act of seeing things invisible to others”- Jonathan Swift. It is deemed very important to create images of successful outcomes. Thinking about your goal and images in your mind will go a long way to propel you towards that success.
4. Make a commitment and You’ll move mountains
“Efforts only fully releases its rewards after a person refuses to quit”- Napoleon Hill
If you are not committed towards a goal, it is less likely for it to be attained. Many people start a new business with the mindset that, if it does not workout after some months, I’ll quit. Such an attitude does not lead to success. Commitment makes a difference between winners and losers. So once you make a commitment to achieve a goal, doing whatever it takes, it creates way for success.
If a person is able to change his attitude, he will change his life.
